Microsoft Teams is one of the most used Video Conferencing App by Corporate Companies. Microsoft revealed that 91 of the U.S.’s 100 largest companies is now using Microsoft Teams. As November 2019, Microsoft Teams was being used by more than 20 millions users worldwide.

In this article, we’re going to show you how to customize your video background and upload a customized one and not just the predefined by Teams.

The first step to achieve this, you need first to have the last version of Teams, to ensure you’re having the last version, just click on your picture profile and then click Check for updates. If you don’t have the last version, you will be asked to restart in order to have the last version.

Change the Background Image

Start a video call. If you do not want that other people can see your background before you change it, just turn off your camera just after starting the call of the meeting. When you are in the call or the meeting, click on “More actions” icon on the toolbar, it is the icon that looks like an ellipsis. Then, click on “Show background effects” from the menu that will be displayed.

After you click the option “Set background effects” you’re going to see a list of images as this one at your right side of the windows.

But, lets say that you don’t want to use any of the default images? You just look for the one that most you like and save in the following path: %AppData%\Microsoft\Teams\Backgrounds\Uploads when you have this folder opened, then you just need to copy all the images you like and you’re going to see them there.

Then to change to one of the customs backgrounds you just copy, just scroll down at the end and you’ll see all the background you just uploaded as shown below.

You need to keep in mind which images are most appropriate to use in Teams for video conference calls. If you’re just having meetings with colleagues you work with in a daily basis, it would be fun to be more creative, but in meetings and video calls with executives and clients, would be good to be more professional.
